An original print is a print for which no other original exists or ever existed, other than the print. The artist usually works directly on the plate (etching), the stone (lithography), or the screen (serigraphy). The artist also draws (or creates) all the color separations by hand. Unlike an original print, a reproduction is a print that has been reproduced (photographically, mechanically, or by hand) from an original. The original may or may not still exist.
